Leicester welcomes new Research Forum Facilitator
Emma Kimberley has recently joined the David Wilson Library at the University of Leicester as a Research Forum Facilitator. She will be working part time from the Graduate School Reading Room to provide support to the University of Leicester postgraduate research community.
After recently completing a PhD on the role of visual representation in contemporary American poetry at the University of Leicester, Emma has a particular interest in the experience of postgraduate researchers. She also teaches in the School of English and the Centre for American Studies.
This new post will facilitate the development of a research information forum for the postgraduate research community, promoting a meeting place, both in the library and online, where researchers can discuss and exchange ideas. Emma will also provide a point of contact for the University services available to the community, liaising especially with Student Support and Development Services, Staff Development Centre, the Graduate School, Beyond Distance Research Alliance, the Research Support Office and the Students’ Union. Emma will develop the GSRR as a technology-rich space. She will co-ordinate and publicise new services for research postgraduates, including a Graduate Media Zoo, a Virtual Reading Room and a programme of events for postgraduate research students. These initiatives will be used to promote academic and social networking for postgraduate research students across disciplinary boundaries, encouraging collaboration and intellectual exchange as well as enhancing the training experience and improving the productivity of the doctoral and post-doctoral research community at Leicester.
